Winter Blues

Winter can be a depressing time for a lot of people. For some, this sadness is enough to qualify as Seasonal Affective disorder or SAD.

The U.S. National Library of Medicine notes that “some people experience a serious mood change when the seasons change. They may sleep too much, have little energy, and may also feel depressed. Though symptoms can be severe, they usually clear up.”

The first line of treatment of SAD is light therapy. It includes twenty minutes of exposure to bright light. Bright light is more effective than dim in the treatment of SAD.
