NKC Men’s Basketball Name New Coach

Brennen Knabe, Writer

Today the North Kansas City High School Men’s Basketball program formally announced the addition of new Head Coach Ed Fritz.

Fritz previously coached for Blue Valley Northwest, where in 17 years he would compete in 8 state championships, winning 5, and narrowly missing out on a ninth appearance this season. Coach Fritz also holds the achievement of 600+ career wins, which is a gold-standard for coaching success. His cumulative win total of 667 ranks him in the top 5 for the state of Kansas.

Before his time with BVNW, he coached for 15 years at Center High School and had brief stints at Baker University, and the University of Nebraska-Kearney. In 2017, Fritz was inducted into Greater Kansas City Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

With this new addition, the NKC Men’s team looks to improve off a tumultuous season, and it looks like they’ve got their guy.
