NKC Softball has started their season 2-1, with two wins over Winnetonka.

To open the 21-22 season NKC softball defeated Winnetonka 11-4, sophomore Faith Heaster packed a powerful punch on the pitcher’s mound in their first game of the NKC tournament ‘I think we did good, better than last year. I’m looking forward to traveling and playing in tournaments” Heaster said. In the same game, senior Madison Spahn launched a ball to deep center, to full push the game in Hornet favor

Later in the tournament, after the game against Grandview was rained out and will be made up later in the season. The Hornets took a tough loss, 1-10, against undefeated Fort Osage. “I believe the team has done good so far in the season, we just need to keep the energy up and not let mistakes get to our head,” junior Bethany Uribe said.

Northtown had a rebound win over Tonka after the tournament with a score of 20-2. “Our strengths of the team are definitely communication and helping our teammates when they are down, we always have each other’s backs and help lift the players that are in their head. I look forward to learning more about the sport,” sophomore E Rocha said.

With a 2-1 start, the NKC Lady Hornet’s look to continue to build momentum with games over Fort Osage (again) and Raytown coming up!
