All of a sudden, everything goes dark. A timer flashes on stage counting down from five minutes in big blue numbers.
Thousands of girls continuously scream, and when the double zero appears on stage, their screams become louder with anticipation.
Out from the ceiling, hanging from a wire upside down, emerges 16-yearold pop sensation Justin Bieber.
Just saying his name can stir up conversation. Though Bieber has only been signed to recording label, Island Def Jam, for less than two years, he has millions of people talking about him all over the world.
And why wouldn’t he? The young man has done things in one year that takes most people five years to do.
His TV appearances include “CSI,” “ Oprah , ” “Ellen,”“Saturday Night Live,” and BET’s “106 & Park” music video countdown.
He has written a book, “Justin Bieber: First Step 2 Forever,“ and created a nail polish line, a female perfume line, and dolls resembling him.
Bieber has released three CDs, “My World,” “My World 2.0” and “My World Acoustic” all within one year.
According to the New York Post, Bieber has sold over four million albums in less than one year.
He also was the first solo artist in Billboard history to have all seven songs from his debut CD listed in the Billboard Hot 100.
The awards do not stop there. The little guy won entertainer of the year, favorite pop/rock male, favorite pop/ rock album for “My World 2.0,” and breakthrough artist of the year, the youngest to win this award, at the 2010 American Music Awards.
Currently, Bieber is on his international “My World Tour” in the United States, Spain, Canada, and Paris. As if this wasn’t enough for Bieber, he is now working on his own movie, “Never Say Never,” said to release February 14, 2011.
All of this happened, fast.
Two years ago, Justin Bieber was a teenage boy living in Canada with his single mom, and now he is in Paris singing his heart out to millions of fans.
How did this happen? What is it about Bieber that makes the world go crazy?
Basically it’s the fact he is a regular, sweet teenage boy. He was found on YouTube by his manager, Scooter Braun, after posting a dozen homemade videos of himself as a 12-year-old boy singing in a local concert.
These videos were originally for his family who were unable to make the concert, but soon Bieber racked up over 10 million views.
Over the course of the following year, he met with R&B idol Usher, who at first denied Bieber the chance to show him his vocal skills.
But soon after Usher spent some time online, he saw talent in Bieber and flew him back out to do a song together.
Since then, Bieber Fever has been a huge epidemic for the world.
Coming from a small town in Canada, where he was only noticed because of the mass views on his YouTube page, Bieber is very loyal to his fans.
He thanks them in everything that he does, and is one of the few artists who tries to communicate with his fans whenever he can.
Though not everyone has met him, many fans feel as if they have. Through Twitter, where Bieber has over six million fans, he follows about 90 of his followers and constantly re-tweets and replies back to them.
And many say, this is just the beginning for Justin Bieber.
