Swimmers make a splash at Conference

Despite the winter blast the girls swim team received this past month, the ladies have continued to work hard to make this a great season.

The girls wake up early in the morning during the school week and head to the Gladstone Natatorium for mandatory practice.

“It’s been a great season. We’re getting ready for conference at the moment. The girls have been working really hard this season,” senior Tiffany McGaugh said.

It truly takes determination and hard work from each individual to keep the team going.

It definitely takes requires a lot of support from one another.

Out of practice the team relaxes and has fun bonding with one another.

The team gets together every once in a while at one of the girl’s houses to watch movies or just have fun eating and talking.

“The season is really intense with all the practices but the girls are so much fun to be around it. Makes it worth it,” junior Delaney Hall said.

They have had several members added to the team this year. The coaches are extremely proud and enjoy every minute of practice as they observe the girls hanging on through the hard times of practice.

“The girls’ season has been one great commitment and determination. They have come in ready to swim as individuals and have ended the season as a close net of athletes and friends. They are continually cheering each other on even through practices and races. I could not be prouder of the team’s accomplishments this year!” head coach Rule said.

Though it takes a lot of time from school work and weekends, the girls enjoy practicing at the community center with the goal in mind to get better through the season.

“The girls have been working really hard and we are very confident about conference,” sophomore team manager Diego Chavez said.

At Conference on Feb. 5, sophomore Laura Flanery medaled in the 500m, earning the highest Hornet result of the day.
