Girls’ soccer is off to a rough start. Starting out with a 1-7 record, the Lady Hornets are still looking to strike a way that will work for them.
“We have been moving different players to different positions, and switching formations a lot to try and find what will work out for us,” senior Julie Beck said.
The Hornets have played some tough games with Lee Summit West, Oak Park, and St. Pius, and have Winnetonka, Ruskin, and St. Joe Central still on the schedule.
“This year we have lost some pretty tough games, but that is over with now, and we have to focus on the games to come,” senior Maria Rucker said.
With the season almost half way done, the senior Hornets have started to think about what they want out of districts.
“We have six seniors on the team this year, and all of us want to win in districts so we get more chances to wear our Hornet uniform before hanging it up forever,” Beck said.
The team’s last regular season game is against Ruskin on May 12.
“After our last game on May 12, it’s a whole new season. It doesn’t matter what our record is up until that point; districts is a brand new season,” Rucker said.
