Northtown’s varsity football team played against St. Central in the first game of the season on Aug. 26.
The Hornets kept points off the board until after halftime, but lost with the ending score of 7-19.
Even though the first game was a loss, the team still has confidence that their season will be successful. The football players gave up their summer in exchange for hard work, to become better players and men. They are coming into a new season with new coaches, new players, and brand new attitudes.
The coaches are working hard to put things in place so the team can be successful academically and athletically.
“We are keeping the players positive and taking positive steps to turn the boys into men,” said Coach White.
Coming in to the season with a small team, they have big goals of making it to the playoffs.
“Our biggest competition is ourselves,” Coach Douglas said.
So as the team goes through the season, collecting as many victories as possible, fans will be watching them overcome obstacles and themselves.
