Pro-Valentine’s Day
Much like Veterans Day, Christmas, or even National Chocolate Cake Day, Valentine’s Day comes once a year. Most people believe that it represents what we should honor year round, showing affection and love for others, most commonly those who are in a relationship. People support our troops year round, have the essence of giving year round, and most certainly eat chocolate cake year round, although there is still a day set out of the year to signally recognize each of them. Valentine’s Day is no different.
Of course we all celebrate our love for others on a daily basis, the spirit of Valentine’s Day allows us to go the extra mile and make those who are near and dear in our lives feel the appreciation and affection we have for them. Girls have the tendency to be spoiled either with a movie and dinner, a box of chocolates, a dozen roses, or even a gigantic teddy bear from their boyfriends. It is easily seen as a girlfriend’s holiday. However, Valentine’s Day does not have to be limited to the girl in the relationship. Guys can be spoiled with chocolates and cards and teddy bears just as easily, or anyone for that matter.
Valentine’s Day is to let your loved ones know that you care, meaning it’s okay to be single and still be upbeat. Parents often spoil their children, because they are the little loves of their lives, some grandchildren even have a special date with a grandparent to share the holiday.
The huge misconception is that Valentine’s Day is for couples, and more specifically for girlfriends. However, it is a day that can be shared among many people to express love and affection if approached the right way. It is a day to share the love, so no one should hate it or say it’s meaningless, because love isn’t meaningless.
