Band Review: All Time Low

Fast paced and fun are two words that easily describe the sound of All Time Low`s music. Energetic and lively, their songs are perfect for dancing around in your bedroom when no ones watching, a hairbrush as your microphone.

All Time Low is a four piece, made up of Rian Dawson, the drummer, Zack Merrick playing bass, Jack Barakat as the guitarist, and Alex Gaskarth on lead vocals.

The band was formed when the four were teenagers in high school. Rian, Jack and Alex attended Dulaney High School, and Zack attended Towson High School, both of which reside in Baltimore, Maryland.

Since their formation, All Time Low has released 5 full length albums, making their debut with The Party Scene and most recently releasing Don’t Panic, which was extended to Don’t Panic: Its Longer Now! with the addition of 4 new songs and 4 acoustics.

Popular songs from previous albums include Dear Maria, Count Me In and Weightless. The band has also made contributions to 2 movie albums, their song Painting Flowers a contribution to the Alice in Wonderland movie soundtrack, Almost Alice.

They have headlined 10 tours, co-headlined 4, and have been added to the line-up for 4 Warped Tours.

Their current tour, A Love Like Tour, was named after their most recent single and made two stops in Missouri, Springfield and Columbia. Another show occurred in Lawrence, Kansas. I attended the Columbia show on April 6, and was blown away.

On stage, the band was full of energy. Jack Barakat ran around the stage during every song, jumping and spinning to the rhythm. The band would also make conversation in between songs, and made sure to include the fans as much as possible. They even brought two fans on stage, to “help” them sing Timebomb.

It’s safe to say, that night is a memory I won’t forget any time soon.
