Attention all Harry Potter fans! J.K Rowling has just released new information about her upcoming movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This movie is a spinoff of the Harry Potter books.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them originally acted as a text book for the students at Hogwarts Witchcraft and Wizardy. The book includes side notes and doodles from the Golden Trio, which consists of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger.

The movie won’t necessarily be about the book but it will be about the supposed author of the book Newt Scamander. Newt is a fellow Wizard who was in Hufflepuff at his time at Hogwarts.

Newt was transferred into the Beast Division he helped put a ban on experimental breeding. From the years 1918-1927 Newt travels across the world researching magical creatures. This is how he wrote his masterpiece.

The movie is said to be set in New York around the year 1920. Also, the movie will be set 70 years prior to the age of the Golden Trio.

The reasons this spinoff has powerful ties to the Harry Potter books is because Newt’s grandson Rolf ends up marrying the one and only Luna Lovegood sometime after the battle of Hogwarts.

The screenplay for the movie is still in the works. J.K Rowling herself is writing the screenplay. The movie is rumored to be to be a trilogy. The first movie will be released on September 18, 2014.
