Bro, bud, broski, man, brother from another mother, co-pilot, or just simply best friend -ah yes the infamous bromance.

Since the dawn of mankind, a special bond has been forged between men. A bromance?

So what does that exactly mean if you’re a guy?

It can mean dishing out advice on anything from your bro’s love life, “Oh prom? Dude, just text her and ask her.” Or even to his hygiene, “Oh you showered yesterday? You’re good then, don’t worry about it.”

This is not a typical friendship though. Not every guy is in a bromance. About one in five men will find themselves in a bromance. But each bromance is virtually the same.

It will consist of two guys who are compatible; they have similar personalities, hobbies and friends.

Bromances differentiate quite a bit from the relationship between two women. A bromance doesn’t rely on verbal communication. With bros, we have a sixth sense.

In a way, we just know what to expect from one another. That’s probably resulting from daily routine; with a bromance day to day activities don’t usually venture too far off course.

As Zach Braff and Donald Faison once said in “Guy Love” (a song from the first episode of season 9 of the hit television show Scrubs):

While a true bromance like J.D. and Turk’s is uncommon, it’s natural. You can’t put a price on a real friendship and that’s all it is.
