Playing catch up: past foreign exchange student

Q: What did you enjoy about the US?

A: “My host parent and my American friends”

Q: What was the most memorable memory of Northtown?

A: “My teachers, friends again and doing different sports! I loved my coaches!”

Q: What exciting things have you done since you have been back in your hometown?

A: “Now I help other Russian kids to become FLEX (the name of the program) kids so they could go to America too.”

Q: What are you doing now that you are back in your hometown?

A: “I am helping with the Paralympics. I am a volunteer and work as a translator of the main doctor.”

Q: How did coming to the US impact your life?

A: “Well it has changed all my life! Completely! It changed the way I think, my opinion about some things. It helped me to learn English better and understand other people of different nationalities and religions. It made me to be ore mature, independent. My life wouldn’t be the same without this program. USA also gave me a better understanding of people with disabilities. I am so happy to be in Sochi and see all the Paralympic athletes right now.”
